How will Ancelotti compose his defense following the massacre against Osasuna? Marca suggests that the Italian already has some ideas in mind.
The situation is serious in Madrid. This season, the list of injured players continues to grow. Currently, the club has to deal with the absence of seven players: Carvajal, Alaba, Courtois, Tchouaméni, Lucas Vázquez, Rodrygo and Militao. Faced with this complex situation, Ancelotti is already considering temporary solutions, as revealed by Marca.
Asencio in reinforcement
Raúl Asencio will remain in the first team indefinitely and, as long as Tchouaméni is injured, he will be first choice in defense alongside Rüdiger. Ancelotti emphasized after yesterday's match, in which Asencio replaced Militao: “Asencio played very well, with a lot of personality. We have to thank the academy and Raúl for their work. He is a player we need Right now”.
Fede Valverde right back
Versatile Fede Valverde would be a solid option at right-back following Lucas Vazquez's injury. Ancelotti seems to like this possibility: “Valverde played at full-back, which suits me.” His physical ability and defensive commitment allow the coach to use Valverde temporarily in this position, even if it means reducing his involvement in midfield to maintain defensive balance.
Camavinga confirmed as pivot
With Valverde right back and Tchouaméni injured, Camavinga positions himself as the essential pivot in midfield. The Frenchman had one of his best games of the season against Osasuna, showing a constant presence and bringing speed and verticality to the team. His performance significantly helped Real Madrid win against Osasuna.
Fortea in future summons
Due to the lack of defensive options, the canterano Fortea could be included in the call-ups for the next matches. Ancelotti had already considered this possibility, believing that Fortea is the best full-back to come from the academy. Although he is not the first choice, he represents a good alternative in the absence of injured starters Carvajal and Lucas Vázquez.
Mendy in central defense
A more experimental option would be to use Mendy as a central hinge. Although his natural position is left side, Mendy could bring solidity to the defense, believes Carlo. Despite a drop in performance this season (he was a substitute yesterday against Osasuna), the particular situation could allow the Frenchman to glean minutes alongside Rüdiger during the Merengues' next outings.
The winter transfer window
Although Real are not keen on signings in winter, the situation is so critical that this time, Florentino Perez and his team could finally move to sign a defender. Some, like Guti, advise the club to recall Sergio Ramos who is free from any contract. Not sure, however, that this option would be to the taste of the Madrid president. In the meantime, Ancelotti will have to find solutions internally to keep the team competitive, which will not be an easy task.
