Recruited in the winter of 2015 by OM, under Marcelo Bielsa at the time, what has become of Argentinian international Lucas Ocampos?
Indeed, the man with 27 goals in 132 appearances in the Olympian jersey, including this magnificent return against Troyes one evening in August 2015, has had a rather contrasting journey since his departure from the Marseille city.
A successful Andalusian adventure
Loaned twice during his time at OM, twice for six months during the 2016-2017 season, Lucas Ocampos leaves the mark of a player who was not the most technically correct but who always had the spirit combative and a sense of sacrifice. It is this precise profile which led Sevilla FC to spend no less than 15 million euros in the summer of 2019.
A fairly successful stint in Seville on a personal level with a good balance sheet and several more trophies to his name. Apart from a failed loan from Amsterdam during the first part of the 2022-2023 financial year where the Argentinian will only take part in 6 small matches under the colors of Ajax, he will have in fact registered no less than 44 goals in 208 matches in Andalusian colors. He will therefore participate in his club's two victorious European campaigns in C3 during the 2019-2020 and 2021-2022 seasons.
Finally, since this summer, the former Olympian has set down his bags in Central America, more precisely in Mexico and at CF Monterey with whom he is committed until June 2027. There he will notably find André Pierre Gignac, his former teammate at OM during the 2014-2015 financial year who became a true legend of the rival club of the Tigres.
