The serious injury to Valentin Carboni was one of the black spots for OM at the start of the season. Without the young Argentinian, a creative player is missing for the system advocated by De Zerbi. Marseille is already looking for its replacement and is looking to Morocco.
Compared to Lionel Messi and even publicly dubbed by Pulga, Valentin Carboni was the dream of Marseille supporters this summer. However, the midfielder on loan from Inter will probably only play four matches in the colors of OM. Injured cruciate knee ligaments with the Argentine selection, Carboni saw his season come to an abrupt end in October. A hard blow for the player, but especially for Marseille. Roberto de Zerbi relied heavily on Carboni to liven up the OM midfield thanks to his above-average technique. In the mind of the Italian coach, Carboni could even push Amine Harit to the bench.
OM targets a former OL target
Suffice to say that Carboni's injury is a tragedy for Roberto de Zerbi since he is missing a profile in his squad. Thus, the Marseille management is working to find a replacement in the transfer window. He needs to send Carboni back to Inter as quickly as possible to have free rein. Two profiles are emerging among Marseille recruiters. First there is the young Belgian midfielder from Anderlecht Mario Stroeykens (20 years old). A player already valued at 10 million euros by Transfermarkt and whose price could further increase knowing the firmness of Anderlecht in the negotiations.
The Jeunes Footeux site gives the name of OM's other target. This is Amine Zouhzouh (24 years old) from FAR Rabat. The Moroccan is not unknown in France since he played for 6 months at SCO Angers during the 2019-2020 season. Zouhzouh reappeared in French football news last summer since OL followed him closely in the transfer window. OM could quickly get ahead of their old rival on this issue, especially since Zouhzouh is much cheaper than the Belgian Stroeykens. Transfermarkt values it at just 1.5 million euros.
