For Radio Mérignac, Yannick Boutotpresident of the Radical Left Party of Gironde and opposition municipal councilor, responded to the question of whether he was for or against the departure of Gérard Lopez from the Girondins de Bordeaux.
“I don’t particularly want Gérard Lopez to leave. In any case, if there is a departure, there must already be another alternative project, whether with the supporters – even if 100% it seems complicated to me to implement and put in place because it is something heavy – or local private investors. That could be a good solution too, or an alliance of the two. Afterwards, if it is just the departure of Gérard Lopez for the 'pleasure' of seeing him leave, that is not what will improve the situation of the Girondins. It would be known. Something else is still needed. Wanting him to leave for the pleasure of seeing him leave is not what will save the club. So another project is needed. Afterwards, how will it emerge… The fact of having a sporting project which holds up, which finds its marks, which succeeds, why not, in coming back or having a great adventure in the Coupe de France or other, that can perhaps- be to encourage the emergence of an alternative project. At that moment, perhaps it is the right exit and entry point… but in my opinion this will pass in part through the athlete.”
