Emmanuel Biumla chose to leave the Girondins de Bordeaux this summer for SCO Angers, free. The central defender continues his performances and is currently in 6 Ligue 1 matches played.
Via Ouest-France, Matthieu Chalméwho had him with the U19s of the Girondins de Bordeaux, remembered the player trained at FCGB, and the tests concerning his position, namely that of central defender or that of defensive midfielder.
“He was above it physically. We installed him at the back, because we said to ourselves that he might have less qualities to play in the middle at the highest level. It was with an end-of-training objective, because we knew that Manu was going to play in central defense with the pros. He can take the easy route. He sometimes had to make simpler choices, but we also didn’t want to take away the quality of ball output that was his strength. Angers? I think it’s the ideal club for his progress, with a coach who will trust him.”
His agent justified his choice to go to SCO, when he obviously had many other offers, also from abroad.
“We had around fifteen clubs, particularly from the Premier League or Europa League, but we wanted the most coherent approach possible, an intermediate step”
