Arriving in Lyon this summer, Rémy Descamps spoke in the columns of Ouest France. The 28-year-old goalkeeper notably returned to the two Coupe de France finals, in which he did not participate.
Regrets, like a taste of unfinished business… This is what emerges from the interview given by Rémy Descamps to West France. Before joining OL this summer, the goalkeeper spent time with the Canaries. Arriving in 2021 at FC Nantes, Descamps only played 17 games but was in competition with Alban Lafontgreat hope of French football in his position. Descamps could have had a completely different trajectory, or rather experienced some good moments with the Nantes club. Afterwards, there was a huge disappointment in me at not having played.” he confided to West France. Especially since the Nantes coach’s explanations did not really convince Rémy Descamps. If during the match lost against Toulouse in 2023 (1-5), the goalkeeper returned from injury and could hear his non-starting, during the first duel against the Aiglons, it was ultimately Lafont who was preferred. “The first, before Nice, for the coach, it was Alban (Lafont) who had to play because he was better at that moment. For me, it was not something that I could hear. Not having played these two Coupe de France finals will remain a great regret in my career.” explained Descamps. While Lyon hosts FC Nantes this Sunday (3 p.m.), Descamps, who has still not played a match with OL, must be patient but knows that nothing is over and that he will one day be able to experience these kinds of emotions on the field.
