Recruited by PSG this summer for a check for €20M, Matvey Safonov asked questions about his future. Should you go on loan to save playing minutes or stay in Paris to acclimatize to a new environment? The Russian goalkeeper opted for the second option, even if the idea of leaving crossed his mind.
Arrived this summer at PSG, Matvey Safonov arrived with the desire to compete Gianluigi Donnarumma. As the Russian doorman announced, his status was not made clear to him at the time of the negotiations. But in reality, the Italian goalkeeper is unshakable and Safonov will have to be satisfied with a few matches throughout the season.
“I considered it in theory”
This is the reason why Safonov has considered the idea of a loan this season. “I considered it in theory” blurted the doorman. But this option quickly disappeared from his mind. During an interview given to Match TVhe explained his decision.
