Diomaye Faye calls an extraordinary session to “prevent the motion of censure”

Information from MP Ayib Daffé, the President of the Republic Bassirou Diomaye Faye has called the National Assembly into an extraordinary session this Thursday, September 5 at 10 a.m. on several points including the General Policy Declaration.

There will be no motion of censure, added the president of the parliamentary group Yewwi Askan Wi. Indeed, it seems that the President of the Republic wants to counter the motion of censure against the government of Ousmane Sonko, already filed by the president of the parliamentary group Benno Bokk Yaakar Abdou Mbow.

Let us recall that Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko declared during a meeting this Wednesday that there will be no motion of censure. No doubt, he was referring to this carefully considered strategy.

If we rely on article 84 of the Constitution of Senegal, “The inclusion, as a priority, on the agenda of the National Assembly of a draft or proposed law or a general policy statement is a right if the President of the Republic or the Prime Minister so requests.”
