Mbappé relieved after first league goals for Real Madrid

After his first two league goals in the shirt of Champions League winners Real Madrid, superstar Kylian Mbappé was relieved. “Three games without scoring is not much for many people. But for me it is a lot. The people at the club, the players and the fans have always stood behind me. They trust me to score for this record,” said the French ex-world champion.

Mbappé, who moved from Paris Saint-Germain to Madrid in the summer, scored both goals in the 2-0 win against Betis Sevilla. Mbappé scored his first goal in the 67th minute after fine work from Federico Valverde. The 25-year-old scored his second goal from a penalty in the 75th minute. Before that, the star striker had only scored in the European Super Cup final against Atalanta Bergamo.

Mbappé’s goals were also urgently needed to ensure that the gap to arch-rivals FC Barcelona does not grow even wider. The Catalans started with four wins under former national coach Hansi Flick and are already four points ahead of Real.
