Kylian Mbappe scores for Real Madrid for the first time

A quick start and a cool finish, then a confident penalty shortly afterwards – for Kylian Mbappe the spell is broken: Real Madrid’s new superstar has scored his first two goals in Spain’s La Liga at the fourth attempt and put the Royals on track.

The final score against the still winless Betis Sevilla was 2-0 (0-0), while Real Madrid climbed to second place in the table with eight points thanks to Kylian Mbappe.

They are four points behind arch-rivals FC Barcelona, who started the season perfectly with four wins under coach Hansi Flick. However, Real at least avoided losing another point after two draws against Mallorca and Las Palmas.

The Stars again struggled for a long time, and Mbappe only had half chances at first. In the middle of the second half, Fede Valverde set up the Frenchman with a heel pass, Mbappe ran after the ball and shot straight away.

His eighth shot on goal of the evening brought the first goal (67th minute), and since 10:58 p.m. Spain no longer looked at Mbappe’s empty goal tally. A little later, Betis goalkeeper Rui Silva brought down Real’s Vini Junior, and Mbappe safely converted the penalty (75th minute).

The 25-year-old fulfilled a childhood dream in the summer when he moved from Paris Saint-Germain to Madrid, and things got off to a good start for the superstar: In the European Super Cup against Atalanta Bergamo, Mbappe scored the final goal to make it 2-0 for the Champions League winners. In La Liga, however, Mbappe was the face of a false start – until he scored twice against Betis.
