This Monday, August 26, singer Sidy Diop appeared before the Dakar flagrante delicto court to answer charges of driving without a driver’s license and without valid insurance.

The artist, known for his many musical hits, appeared before the judge with humility, acknowledging the facts he is accused of regarding the lack of a driver’s license. During the hearing, Sidy Diop expressed his regrets and made his mea culpa, declaring: “I did not do it on purpose and this will not happen again.”

However, when asked about the possession of fake insurance papers, the singer explained that he was unaware of their fraudulent nature, saying: “I didn’t know the insurance is fake. The one who sold me the car gave it to me.”

The plea of ​​Sidy Diop’s lawyer

His lawyer, Me Aboubacry Barro, pleaded in favor of his client’s good faith, highlighting his humble attitude and his lack of malice. “He had to present the documents relating to the circulation of the vehicle. So, among these documents, there was an insurance, an insurance policy, which was not the right one. It was a false insurance policy, but he was given this policy. There, the investigation which will certainly continue, will determine this person who had to give this insurance policy”, explained Me Barro, emphasizing that Sidy Diop was the victim of an insurance scam.
