Adeyemi unstoppable at BVB too

Seven goals in ten days: Karim Adeyemi is currently playing great! A brace and a hat trick for the U21 national team, now two goals and an assist for Borussia Dortmund on matchday 3.

It could be Karim Adeyemi’s season. Having come to BVB from Salzburg two years ago with undisputed talent, the still 22-year-old has alternated between strong and inconspicuous performances at regular intervals. It is possible that this will now change – with Dortmund having regained strength, and at least temporarily climbing to first place on Friday evening.

Match report: Furious BVB counterattacks its way to the top

And Adeyemi doesn’t just score, he seems to have grown on the pitch. “What I measure the boys by is their work against the ball. That’s always very, very important for wingers. Of course, we also measure them by goals and assists, and whether they are decisive in the game. But we can only defend well if the boys press at the right moments and they did that well,” explained the new BVB coach Nuri Şahin after the victory against 1. FC Heidenheim. “Karim took the momentum from the U21s and rewarded himself for it.”
