Michel Dussuyer, hope despite the storm

The national Syli of Guinea is preparing for a decisive test this Saturday, October 12, 2024, as he faces Ethiopia in Abidjan for the third day of the CAN 2025 qualifiers. After two painful losses against DR Congo and Mozambique, the pressure is palpable. However, at a press conference this Friday, Michel Dussuyer, coach of the Guinean team, insisted on an essential point: all is not yet lost.

”Yes, the situation is delicate,” he admits bluntly. Hopes of qualification have dwindled, and now Guinea must not only win, but also rely on the missteps of its competitors. “We run after others, it’s true, but our destiny is still in our hands. It is now that we must show pride and ambition,” he insists forcefully.

However, this quest for redemption will not be without difficulty. Dussuyer does not hide that the absence of Mohamed Aly Camara, a pillar of the defense, replaced by the young Mohamed Soumah, could weigh heavily in this crucial match. An absence which further complicates the task of his team, already under tension.

At this critical moment, the coach knows that more than just technical performance will be required. It will be a question of character, of a burst of pride. A match where the stakes go beyond the field, a battle for the future of the national Syli in this continental campaign.

Dussuyer has only one watchword: do not give in. Guinea must respond to the call of history, not with the fear of failure, but with the audacity of those who still believe in their destiny.
