Lewandowski Among the Best Finishers in Modern Football

Roberto Martínez has praised Robert Lewandowski ahead of the Nations League clash between Portugal and Poland. For the ‘Quinas’ coach, there is no doubt that the striker will be the key opponent to watch during this match.

Robert Lewandowski of FC Barcelona is one of the “best finishers in modern football.” One of the strategies for the Portuguese coach Roberto Martinez in the Nations League matchup against Poland will therefore be to “neutralize Lewandowski’s talent.”

During the press conference before the Nations League match in Lisbon, Martinez highlighted Lewandowski’s “superb form,” as he has netted 12 goals in 11 matches with Barcelona.

The coach described the Polish team as “a side that takes risks, attacking and defending with many players,” which will pose “an important tactical challenge” for Portugal.

When asked about Cristiano Ronaldo’s presence in the starting eleven against Poland, the Spanish coach replied that the Portugal captain “had a good training camp in September” and that “he is currently training well.”

Meanwhile, Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes stated during the press conference that the Portuguese will need to “be patient with the ball” and circulate it “with a certain intensity” in the match against the Poles.

Bruno Fernandes acknowledged that what he is experiencing at Manchester is “not a good period,” but that it does not affect the national team, where he feels “very comfortable.”

“I believe I have shown a good level with the national team; it is a space where I feel good and where I can develop my football at a very high level, due to the dynamics we have and the quality of players around me,” he declared.

Portugal, who currently lead Group A1 after victories over Croatia and Scotland (2-1 in both cases), will face Poland in Warsaw on Saturday and Scotland in Glasgow on October 15.
