Nibombé Daré, the huge humiliation – YOP L-FRII

This is a first in over 6 years. Togo was beaten by Algeria in the CAN 2025 qualifiers by a large score of 5-1.

Despite a remarkable start rewarded with a goal from Thibault Klidje in the 11th minute, the Eperviers quickly let themselves be dominated by the locals.

Dominant throughout the match, Vladimir Petkovic’s men first came back to score thanks to a magnificent goal from Saïd Benrahma (29th).

The Algerian number 10 then doubled the score from the penalty spot after a failed exit from Wassiou Ouro-Gneni, started by Nibombé Daré in the absence of Agbolossou.

The second Algerian goal gave a completely different twist to the match which definitely swung to the advantage of the locals.

Conceding three other goals in the last 25 minutes of the game, Nibombé Daré and his team lost with a score of 5-1.

To remember such a big humiliation suffered by Togo, we have to go back to 2018, when the Eperviers had already been corrected by the Fennecs in the CAN 2019 qualifiers.

This is also the first defeat for Nibombé Daré on the Eperviers bench after his signing as coach.

A first defeat which is humiliating and unforgettable for the former Togolese defender converted into a coach.

The return match between the Eperviers and Algeria is scheduled for October 14, 2024 and should already allow supporters to get an idea of whether or not Togo will participate in the next edition of the CAN in Morocco.
