CAN-2025 Qualifiers (3rd and 4th days): These scenarios which would qualify Senegal at the end of the double confrontation against Malawi

Senegal faces Malawi tomorrow Friday October 11 at the Abdoulaye Wade stadium in Diamniadio and on the 15th in Lilongwe, Malawi. Meetings counting for the 3rd and 4th days of Pool L of the Morocco CAN-2025 qualifiers.

These Lions outings will take place in a particular context, with the dismissal of Aliou Cissé on the eve of the publication of the list of players who will take part in these meetings, after nine years on the bench of the national team. But they could open the door to qualification for the Moroccan CAN.

Indeed, Senegal can win their ticket, at the end of this double confrontation, if the men led by the interim tandem Pape Thiaw-Teddy Pellerin win both the outward and return legs against Malawi and Burkina Faso also wins its double confrontation against Burundi.

With two positive results for Senegal and Burkina Faso at the end of the 3rd and 4th days, Kalidou Koulibaly and his partners, who are currently 2nd in the group with 4 pts +1 behind Burkina Faso (4 pts +2), will have a total of 10 pts and could take advantage of the goal difference to take the leadership chair. The Stallions will also have the same number of points and will be qualified, just like Senegal, for the next CAN.

The two selections will thus be assured of finishing in the first two places in the group.

Burundi and Malawi will have, in this case, 3 and 0 points respectively. And with this gap, they will no longer be able, whatever the outcome of the last two days, to come back to the level of Senegal and Burkina Faso.
