SENEGAL-AFRICA-FOOTBALL / CAN 2025 Qualifiers: the FSF publishes a list of twenty-six players without Edouard Mendy – Senegalese press agency

Dakar, Oct 4 (APS) – The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) published, Friday, a list of 26 players expected to take part in the double confrontation against Malawi, on behalf of the third and fourth days of the Cup qualifiers of African Nations Football 2025.

In addition to the first selection of ASC Jaraaf goalkeeper, Cheikh Lo Ndoye, and the return of Boulaye Dia, the list of Lions summoned is marked by the absence of the starting goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy.

Senegal will face Malawi in Dakar on October 11, before traveling to Lilongwe for the return match, four days later, as part of the CAN qualifiers that Morocco will host (December 21, 2025-January 18, 2026). .

Pape Bouna Thiaw will lead, on an interim basis, the Lions of Senegal for these two matches, after the decision of the Ministry of Sports not to renew for one year the contract of the coach of the national team, Aliou Cissé.

The Minister of Sports Khady Diène Gaye had invited “the FSF to take the necessary measures to ensure the participation of Senegal in the qualifying phase for the 2025 African Cup of Nations”.

Interim coach Pape Bouna Thiaw was until then first assistant to Cissé. He will be assisted by Teddy Pellerin, second assistant coach.

The national technical director, Mayacine Mar is responsible for the supervision and coordination of the team, according to the Senegalese Football Federation.
