Jack Butland slams Clement’s tactics amid Rangers fail

Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland has slammed manager Philippe Clement’s tactics against confirming the boss got it wrong, while the manager himself has blamed bad finishing.

Following yet another bad match in this shambolic era of Rangers, Rangers’ stopper, wearing the armband following James Tavernier’s early exit, criticised the ‘approach’ and inferred the manager was wrong (again) with his tactics.

“They are a really good team with serious individual quality. The disappointment is we gave them too many chances to showcase that. We needed a different approach. There wasn’t enough from us at the moments we had to make a foul, stop them getting into their stride.”

Meanwhile, Ol’ Phil was blaming bad finishing arguing that missed chances were the difference on the night.

Once again the manager makes all kinds of excuses, ‘laments’ bad finishing (we admit Cerny’s howler was horrific) but doesn’t admit his own tactics again were diabolical.

With this one, the tactics were far too open, too aggressive, and nowhere near tight enough at the rear – against Benfica the defensive line had been suicidally high and just like v the Lisbon giants, Clement refused to fix it against Lyon either.

And Butland is calling it out – the first player to question the tactics Clement is using.

Let’s face it, we know individual errors were a big issue last night, along with bad finishing, but the manager not only didn’t rectify the tactical errors, he made further ones then added bizarre subs into the mix.

If Butland is prepared to call that out… what next?
