Legia won 1-0 at home against the Spanish Real Betis in the first round of the league phase of the Conference League. After Thursday’s match, Wojskowy’s player, Paweł Wszołek, spoke with Polsat Sport.
– Every victory gives a positive boost. On Thursday we played in good style, everyone was focused. We knew what we wanted to play. I think this win is deserved.
– Now we have a very important match in the league, against Jagiellonia away. We have to break through in the Ekstraklasa and win, because we really need points. Time for a very good regeneration. We have to win on Sunday, there is no other option.
– We have a lot to prove to our fans, especially to ourselves. We know that the last matches weren’t our way, but I also think that we shouldn’t get such criticism. Of course, results always decide. We are a big loss to Lech and some people judge our position in the league through this prism. I really believe that the best period is ahead of us.
– I think we have to go back to the basics, i.e. every match is a final for us, regardless of whether it is an Ekstraklasa match, the Polish Cup or the Conference League. Let’s play with such commitment, with such heart and we can beat anyone.
– Switching to a back four? You can use various settings, but if you lack determination and intensity in the game, and above all, willingness, no system will help. I believe that the most important thing is commitment and intensity without the ball, especially after a loss. We look good in this system, but I think we are capable of playing in different ones. When we were low, we played 5-4-1. The most important thing is intensity and commitment. I believe the rest will come.
– Professional sport is definitely not just about health. On Thursday, I hit the fence with my head and shoulder – everyone saw how hard it was. The adrenaline was working, now the pain will be a little greater, but what don’t you do for the team. It’s normal. We have great physiotherapists – I believe there will be good regeneration.
