Dortmund in the top 11 for the second time
A dark shadow wanted to fall over Borussia Dortmund’s exhilarating evening. And that’s not because BVB were only two goals short of the big, historic goal in their 7-1 win over Celtic Glasgow in the Champions League. Rather, because Karim Adeyemi, the winner of the Champions League match this season, was injured. Apart from the bitter loss of the U21 national player and three-goal scorer, the sweeping victory against the Scottish “invincibles” was, from the black and yellow’s point of view, a huge football festival and also a small but noteworthy chapter in German football history.

Top 11 because from the current perspective there is another surprise guest with another 6-0 win in the ranking: Borussia Mönchengladbach. In the 20/21 season, the Foals won the group games against Donetsk and reached the round of 16 despite a difficult group with Real Madrid and Inter Milan. There it was over against Manchester City. The international comparison is led by Liverpool FC and Real Madrid, who won their matches against Beşiktaş and Malmö FF 8-0.
Including the national champions’ cup, Gladbach would have achieved the highest victory for the German representatives. In 1970, Borussia won against EPA Larnaka from Cyprus 10-0.
