For the twenty years of Pink October, the FNMR continues its communication action by publishing a work retracing the genesis of the breast cancer screening process and publishes a report, entitled “Words of women”, which lists the various obstacles to practice of mammography.

Twenty years of breast cancer screening mark an important milestone for those involved in medical imaging, who are on the front line in this prevention process. The National Federation of Radiologists (FNMR) is very active in this context.

After launching a survey this summer among patients, to try to identify the reasons for the disaffection of a majority of women for this examination, the FNMR is continuing its communication action by publishing a book retracing the genesis of the screening process of breast cancer, its deployment, the current state of this activity and its possible developments, particularly through artificial intelligence.

Personalities with diverse profiles, including journalist Caroline Roux, participated in the writing of this work which relates the various technological advances which have enabled screening to become more and more efficient. But, as mentioned above, one in two women does not participate, these days, in the organized breast cancer screening program.

This work is supplemented by the results of the aforementioned survey and by a series of “focus groups” in French cities of all types where women not participating in breast cancer screening were listened to in order to find out the reasons for this refusal. The result is a report, entitled “Words of Women”, which lists the various obstacles to the practice of mammography and proposes actions to remedy them.

The FNMR is finally inaugurating, in collaboration with numerous partners, a communication operation using a bus which will first circulate in several towns in Alsace, the first 3 weeks of October, and which will be equipped with a mammography machine (non-functional), a light box and a bust to learn self-palpation.

It will organize, on October 5, 2024, a large anniversary evening at the Pavillon Wagram, 17th century, for the 20th anniversary of the operation and the start of Pink October 2024, while the Francophone Days of Radiology (JFR) will have started, at during which she will award “Pink Awards” to those who have left their mark on the screening adventure.
