‘We could not break the record we aimed for’ – Zafer Newspaper

Galatasaray drew 3-3 with Kasımpaşa, which it hosted at home in the 7th week of the Super League. After the match, Galatasaray Sportif AŞ Deputy Chairman İbrahim Hatipoğlu made a statement to the press. Hatipoğlu said, “We watched two different matches this evening. A very good game in the first half and a 3-1 victory. However, it was a game we did not want in the second half and the draw that followed. Our formation in the first half was the first match in which we were on the field with a double striker. Our players performed extremely well. We finished the first half in a superior manner with beautiful goals. However, we had two unfortunate injuries. We had to make two mandatory changes as both Osimhen and Sallai were injured. There was a very negative impact. I congratulate Kasımpaşa. They fought very well in the second half of the match. They did not leave the match. “Unfortunately, we finished this match in a draw with a penalty in the last minutes of the first half and the goals we conceded in the 90th + 5th minute of the match.”

‘WE COULD NOT BREAK THE RECORD WE TARGET’

Stating that they see today’s loss of points as a road accident, İbrahim Hatipoğlu said, “If we had won this match, we would have made the best league start in Galatasaray’s history by making 7 out of 7. Records are not easy. That’s why records can be broken after many years. There was a road accident. We couldn’t break the record we aimed for. We were sad. However, I think we will continue on our way by extending the performance, especially in the first half of the match, to the following matches. We have the Europa League match ahead of us that we need to concentrate on. We see today’s loss of points as a road accident. “Everyone needs to learn from this situation,” he said.

‘IT WOULD NOT BE RIGHT TO RELIEVE THIS DRAW TO THE REFEREE’

Stating that the referee of the match, Oğuzhan Çakır, managed a good match despite his young age, Hatipoğlu said, “It would not be right to attribute this draw to the referee. It would be very unfair to blame our referee friend for finishing the match 3-3 after we were 3-0 ahead on our own field. We support young referees. Turkish football needs young referees. We saw that the referees gave penalties very easily in the 3 matches in which we were ahead in terms of score. An easy penalty was given in the match between Adana Demirspor and Fenerbahçe in Kadıköy. Today, in our opinion, a penalty was given very easily. And it was given after a long review with the intervention of VAR. It’s as if the referees easily give penalties when we are ahead. In this match, a ball hitting the shoulder caused a penalty to be awarded by the linesman. It was later reviewed by VAR and cancelled. I find today’s referee to be successful in his own respect. I think he managed a good match even though he was young. However, we think that we acted according to the score while we were ahead.”

‘WE COULD HAVE ONE MORE DAY’S REST AND PLAYED THIS MATCH’

Galatasaray Sportif AŞ Deputy Chairman İbrahim Hatipoğlu concluded his words as follows:

“We knew the fixtures would be intense. Accordingly, we have a large team. Some will play, some will sit. As you saw in the first half today, no one felt the deficiencies in the team. We played an extremely good match, but fatigue appeared. It becomes a little more difficult to cope with this fatigue at the beginning of the season. As our teacher Okan said, we could play this match tomorrow. We could have played this match with one more day of rest. Because there was such a possibility. However, the federation appreciated it this way. In any case, we should have won the match in which we were ahead 3-0.”
