Pedri reveals what he told referee at half-time of Barcelona’s defeat to Osasuna

Barcelona midfielder Pedri revealed how he spoke to the referee at half-time of Saturday’s defeat to Osasuna to complain about the hosts’ second goal.

Victor appeared to be fouled in the build-up to the goal and Pedri admitted he felt his team had been hard done by after the decision was not given.

“I think it’s a foul, it’s a clear foul, he steps on him, it’s very clear. I was telling the referee that it’s clear that he stepped on him.

“Against Rayo they took a goal away from us for a play where he stepped on it less. And I don’t understand why it wasn’t given as a foul but it’s not an excuse,” he told the media afterwards.

However, Pedri, who captained the team at El Sadar, admitted his team had come up short against Osasuna but defended Hansi Flick’s decision to rotate his team.

“We didn’t play well in the first half and the second goal really punished us. We deserved more but they scored in important moments,” he added,

“We had to go after the game and they’ve hurt us on the counter. It’s normal there are changes, there are lots of games at the moment and everyone wants to be fresh for the game but the 11 that went out were very focused.”

The defeat is Barcelona’s first of the season in La Liga after seven straight wins. Barca are back in action in midweek in the Champions League against Young Boys.
