Paul Merson shares who he thinks will win in Nottingham Forest vs Wolves

Nottingham Forest are back in Premier League action on Saturday afternoon when Wolves make the trip to the City Ground.

Nuno Espirito Santo must be full of confidence following the closure of the summer transfer window on Friday night.

But the focus has to return to the action on the pitch as Forest look to continue their unbeaten start to the Premier League season.

It was a busy end to the window for the Reds who were able to bring in Morato to add to their options.

However, the standout piece of business was Forest’s loan signing of James Ward-Prowse from West Ham United.

Neither of the two signings were completed in time, though, to feature on Saturday against Gary O’Neil’s side.

Paul Merson predicts Nottingham Forest vs Wolves

It has been an impressive start to the season for the Reds who were able to take a point from their opener against Bournemouth.

But putting three points on the board last weekend against Southampton was huge for Nuno’s side who were able to rise into the top half of the table.

And they will be coming up against a Wolves side who are still in search of their first point this season after back-to-back defeats.

Speaking to Sportskeeda, Merson predicted a winner with the Sky Sports pundit expecting Forest to edge it in a 1-0 victory.

“This is a massive game of football. Nottingham Forest managed to secure a really important win away to Southampton last time out. Wolves, on the other hand, have been really struggling. They were a complete disaster against Chelsea,” Merson said.

“Wolves definitely miss Pedro Neto. They really punched above their weight last season, but the poor finish to that campaign has sort of carried on to the current one. Gary O’Neil needs an X-factor in his team and without someone stepping up to become just that, they could be in trouble.

“I’m backing Nottingham Forest to get a win, but it will be a very tight game.”

Nottingham Forest need statement win vs Wolves

Of course, Forest are not going to go the season unbeaten so a loss today would not be the end of the world.

But there is more than three points on the line for the Reds with a win against Wolves taking them onto seven points.

That would mark a seriously impressive start and would be a real statement from Nuno’s side following a busy summer in the transfer window.

Next up for Forest after Wolves is a trip to Anfield where they will be facing a Liverpool side who will be heavily favoured to take the points.

Going into that game with seven points on the board could well take the pressure off Forest.
