Ipswich Town vs Fulham: Premier League – BBC Sport

The only previous Premier League meetings between Ipswich and Fulham were in the 2001-02 campaign, with the Tractor Boys remaining unbeaten against the Cottagers back then (1-1 away, 1-0 at home).

Fulham have won their last four league meetings with Ipswich, with this the first since a 4-1 home win in January 2018. The Cottagers had been winless in nine league games against the Tractor Boys before this run (D3 L6).

Ipswich Town have lost both of their Premier League games this season; only in 1949-50 (third division south), 1956-57 (third division south), and 2006-07 (Championship) have the Tractor Boys ever lost each of their opening three matches of a league campaign.

Ipswich have never lost consecutive home league games under Kieran McKenna, with this game his 59th at Portman Road. The Tractor Boys last suffered consecutive home losses in January 2021 in League One under Paul Lambert.

Since Fulham drew 0-0 with Newcastle in November 2010, none of their last 40 Premier League games against newly promoted teams has ended goalless, with 141 goals scored in these games (3.5 per game), including 19 in the last four (4.8 per game).

Ipswich Town have allowed 99 touches in their own box in their opening two Premier League matches this season (50 vs Liverpool, 49 vs Man City), the most by a team in their first two games in a season on record since 2008-09.

Fulham picked up their first Premier League win of the season on MD2 against Leicester City, having lost to Man Utd on MD1. The Cottagers have only won as many as two of their first three games in two previous Premier League campaigns, in 2003-04 and 2008-09 (both W2 L1).

Fulham’s Andreas Pereira has created 13 chances in the Premier League this season, six more than any other player. It is the most by a player in a team’s opening two games in a Premier League season since 2012-13, when Leighton Baines also created 13 chances for Everton.

Ipswich Town striker Sam Szmodics netted in his first Premier League start on MD2, scoring in their 4-1 defeat to Man City. The last Ipswich player to score in his first two Premier League starts was Adam Tanner in January 1995.

Emile Smith Rowe scored his first Premier League goal for Fulham in their 2-1 win over Leicester, ending a run of 31 appearances without a goal in the competition. He is looking to score in consecutive games for the first time since netting in all four of his appearances in December 2021 for Arsenal.
