High-flying Brighton face acid test at Arsenal

Brighton and Hove Albion have made a great start under new boss Fabian Hurzeler but today’s trip to Arsenal is the ultimate test of their progress under the young German.

The Gunners have also won both their Premier League games so far and last week’s 2-0 victory at Aston Villa was a major statement of intent as they look to mount another title bid.

Mikel Arteta has turned Arsenal into a mean machine, particularly at home, so it will be interesting to see how Hurzeler approaches this game tactically.

If he sets up to attack it could be a thriller for the fans but the bookies don’t fancy Brighton’s chances with Betfred pricing them at 7/1.

Arsenal vs Brighton and Hove Albion top betting tips

Arsenal have kept clean sheets in both their games so far but Brighton have been scoring freely so BTTS is just 4/5 with Betfred. If you combine that with over 2.5 goals the odds increase to a decent 11/10.

Joao Pedro is always a threat for the Seagulls and the evens on offer at Betfred for the Brazilian to have one or more shots on target looks well worth a punt.

Neither team is renowned for putting the boot in so backing under 37.5 booking points could also pay off at 11/10.

West Ham United vs Manchester City top tips

Champions Manchester City have made an ominous start for their Premier League rivals, with a 2-0 win at Chelsea followed by a 4-1 rout of Ipswich.

Tonight’s trip to West Ham should be a tough test, though, with the Hammers boasting plenty of quality in attack.

Guardiola’s defence always gives the opposition a few sights of goal so I like the 11/8 available for Mohamed Kudus to have one or more shots on target.

Julen Lopetegui isn’t the kind of manager who parks the bus so it should be a decent watch. Over 3.5 goals pays 11/10 with Betfred while over 1.5 first-half strikes is the same price at Bet365.

Burnley vs Blackburn Rovers top betting tips

The big game in the EFL Championship today sees Blackburn Rovers head to Turf Moor for the East Lancashire derby with Burnley.

Rovers have made a flying start to the campaign and sit third after collecting seven points from their first three games but they are 3/1 outsiders today.

That’s because the Clarets have also been looking pretty slick under new boss Scott Parker, with two wins and a defeat so far in the league.

The half-time draw is always a good option in a derby and it pays 5/4 here. I also like the evens available for Blackburn to pick up most booking points.

Ross County vs Aberdeen top betting tips

New Aberdeen boss Jimmy Thelin has won every game so far, with last week’s victory over Kilmarnock their eighth in a row.

They now face a Ross County side who followed up a shock League Cup loss to League Two Spartans by getting spanked 6-0 away to Rangers.

So the Dons look decent value at evens for a win, even though they are away from home.

For a long-odds option, Dons midfielder Sivert Nilsen looks good at 5/1 with Bet365 to be booked. The Norwegian already has two yellows to his name but the bookies keep offering him at hefty odds to go in the book.

  • Joao Pedro one or more shots on target Evs Betfred
  • Mohamed Kudus one or more shots on target 11/8 Betfred
  • Blackburn most booking points Evs Betfred

Long shot

  • Aberdeen’s Sivert Nilsen to be carded 5/1 Bet365
