After the Women’s Super Cup, Sporting and Benfica start the championship with a smile

UA week after the Women’s Super Cup won by Sporting, as a result of a comeback against Benfica (2-1), the two Lisbon rivals started the championship on the ‘right foot’, this Friday, in a round that will still take place this weekend.

The Alvalade team started strong and, within the first 20 minutes, was already winning by two goals, scored by Maisa Correia (3′) and Rita Fontemanha (17′), followed by the final 3-0 scored by Telma Encarnação at 45+3′, in a duel that saw no changes in the score in the second half.

The Eagles resisted an early sending off of Carole Costa (13′) to defeat Torrense, and even managed to go into the break with a narrow lead thanks to Cristina Martín-Prieto’s goal in the 34th minute. Roughly halfway through the second half, Lund extended the lead (67′) and the most Torrenense could do was reduce the deficit through Seelendreund in the 71st minute.
