Victory for Singo, Ben Seghir spared

Ivory Coast has made a perfect start to its qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The defending champion beat Zambia (2-0) on Friday. Wilfried Singo started the match and played 80 minutes before being replaced by Guéla Doué, from Strasbourg.

Eliesse Ben Seghir was not included on the match sheet by Walid Regragui to face Gabon (4-1). The AS Monaco attacking midfielder felt discomfort and was therefore spared. His presence against Lesotho on Monday (8 p.m.) would not, however, be called into question.

With Senegal, Lamine Camara conceded a disappointing draw against Burkina Faso (1-1) in the final seconds. The midfielder came on in the 68th minute, at the same time as his now ex-teammate Ismail Jakobs. Senegal will have to make up for it against Burundi on Monday (9 p.m.).

Finally, Soungoutou Magassa and Maghnes Akiouche played 90 minutes with the France Espoirs team for the Euro 2025 qualifiers. The first was lined up in central defense by the new coach Gérald Baticle while the second occupied a relay position in a 4-3-3. The Bleuets were held (1-1) and did not achieve a very good accounting operation, in their group.

Third, they are three points behind their opponents this evening and have been overtaken by Austria. They will face Bosnia-Herzegovina on Sunday (6:30 p.m.).
