Spanish press dismantles Kylian Mbappé after stumbling start in LaLiga

The Spanish press has heavily criticized Real Madrid’s new star striker Kylian Mbappé for his current goal drought at the start of his career with the Royal Club.

“There is something wrong with Mbappé,” wrote the Spanish newspaper Mark after Real’s 1-1 draw with UD Las Palmas on Thursday evening. The Frenchman played 90 minutes in the disappointing tie, but failed to score.

“Mbappé’s inertia is taking its toll at Madrid,” said the Mark “The French star is the only Real Madrid striker who has not scored a goal in the Spanish league.”

Die As claimed, however, that Mbappé had “landed down to earth at Real Madrid”. The ruthless verdict: “Mbappé is still blocked.”

The 25-year-old is still waiting for his first goal in the Spanish top flight after three LaLiga appearances. Mbappé also failed to score in Real’s 3-0 win against Valladolid and the 1-1 draw in Mallorca.

As is well known, Mbappé joined Real from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer this summer and has signed a contract in Madrid until 2029.

He scored for the Madrid team for the first time in his competitive debut in the UEFA Super Cup against Atalanta Bergamo (2-0) in mid-August, but has not scored another goal since then.

Mbappé’s next chance will come on Sunday when Real face Betis Sevilla at home. After that, there is an international break, during which Mbappé will play for France in the Nations League against Italy and Belgium.
