The shameful extraordinary session deserves a motion of censure
The
      shameful
      extraordinary
      session
      deserves
      a
      motion
      of
      censure
A public mobilized to intimidate the deputies and who shout “Sonko Sonko” within the hemicycle, a Minister of Justice who announces in the middle of the session to the deputies that the President of the Republic had promulgated the law amending the internal regulations of the National Assembly, after having ignored the referral of the President of the institution for advice, a summons whose outcome was known in advance but which favored a game of political politicking … these are acts of sabotage and childishness against an institution of the republic which must not remain without follow-up.

The deputies were consistent. Each defended their ideological line regarding whether or not to maintain the EESC and the HCCT.

On the other hand, theatre organised with open contempt for institutions must be punished.

The PM who is delaying his obligation to make his DPG and is openly displaying his notorious lack of respect for the parliamentary institution and the constitution must be sanctioned.

It is clear that for some time now, a series of childish traps have been set for the majority deputies to push them into making mistakes and thus equip themselves with language elements for the next electoral campaign for the legislative elections.

The aim is to ask the Senegalese to allow them to have a majority in the face of an opposition which would like to block their initiatives.

This is too childish.

These Senegalese will ask them why the PM did not make his DPG in accordance with the provisions of the constitution when all the pretexts for not appearing before the national assembly have been lifted.

These Senegalese easily understand this political policy which resulted in the convening of this extraordinary session of the National Assembly. They will punish the populism which today causes them considerable harm at the time of exercising power.

While waiting to work fully towards a new majority capable of confronting the autocratic excesses of the regime in place, we support, without any reservation, this draft motion of censure against the government of the current PM.

A motion which, symbolically, will have the effect of imposing the respect that an appointed official (PM) must have towards elected officials, the respect that this PM must have towards his constitutional obligations.

It will be up to the President of the Republic to use his powers of appointment and dissolution to put things right, if he considers that he still has a role to play.
