Great redemption: Mbappé breaks spell with brace

A quick start and a cool finish, a little later a confident penalty – for Kylian Mbappé the spell is broken: Real Madrid’s new superstar has his first two hits in the fourth attempt in Spain’s La Liga and put the Royals on track. The final result was a 2-0 (0-0) win against Betis Sevilla, who are still winless. Thanks to Mbappé, Real climbed to second place in the table with eight points.
The gap to arch-rivals FC Barcelona, who started the season perfectly with four wins under coach Hansi Flick, is four points. After two draws against Mallorca and Las Palmas, Real at least avoided losing another point.
The 25-year-old Mbappé fulfilled a childhood dream in the summer when he moved from Paris Saint-Germain to Madrid, and things got off to a good start for the superstar: In the European Super Cup against Atalanta Bergamo, Mbappé scored the final goal for the Champions League winners to make it 2-0. In La Liga, however, he was the face of a false start – until he scored twice against Betis.
