The training session took place at The Strongest’s Rafael Mendoza stadium, located in the south of La Paz, and was open to a small group of fans who were able to observe the team’s preparations.

Supporters donned their national team jerseys and waved the Bolivian tricolor flag, displaying the colors red, yellow and green, while a marching band made up of police officers electrified the atmosphere to encourage the players.

“Thank you all for the support you give us,” said goalkeeper Guillermo Viscarra when discussing the support the players receive from the public.

The training consisted of recreational exercises and physical preparation, where an optimistic atmosphere was palpable among the group led by coach Óscar Villegas.

Viscarra stressed that it will be “very important” for the team to focus on defense and the need to keep a clean sheet.

The Strongest goalkeeper said all players are “focused” on executing the game plan, despite any controversy that may arise.

In the morning, Colombian coach Néstor Lorenzo commented that there had been a “violation of privacy” within his team when someone filmed one of the training sessions, which attracted media attention and went viral on social media.

Meanwhile, Liga de Quito midfielder Gabriel Villamil stressed the importance of the points at stake, saying Bolivia “will look to win the match.”

Bolivia, with 9 points in 8 games, is aiming for victory against undefeated Colombia, currently second with 16 points, to climb the rankings and maintain their hopes of qualifying for the next World Cup.

Bolivia and Colombia have faced each other seven times in Bolivia. La Verde had one victory, the Cafeteros won two, with the rest ending in draws. EFE
