LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Residents of Kentucky can look forward to an extended period of dry and pleasant weather, lasting until Sunday.

This stretch of clear skies and calm conditions will provide perfect weather for outdoor activities, from hiking in the rolling hills to enjoying the early hints of fall foliage.

Warming Trend

Temperatures will gradually rise throughout the week, starting with mild highs in the upper 60s today. As the week progresses, expect temperatures to climb steadily, reaching the low 70s by Friday and Saturday. By Sunday, highs will soar to near 80 degrees, making for a warm and sunny day.

Cold Front Brings Relief

However, this warm spell will come to an abrupt end with the arrival of a cold front on Sunday and Monday. While there’s a slight chance of scattered showers, the primary impact will be the dramatic temperature drop. Highs will plummet from near 80 degrees to the upper 50s, bringing a refreshing chill to the region.

Frosty Mornings Ahead

As the colder air settles in, some areas may experience patchy frost, especially in rural valleys and low-lying areas. Residents should take precautions to protect sensitive plants and prepare for the seasonal change.

Hurricane Milton: A Historic Storm

In the Gulf of Mexico, Hurricane Milton continues to intensify, with forecasters predicting it will remain a major hurricane upon landfall. Milton’s peak sustained winds of 180 mph and minimum central pressure of 897 millibars make it one of the strongest hurricanes on record. This extreme intensity is a testament to the storm’s potent energy and organization. It has since weakened from that level.

Landfall Concerns

As Milton approaches the coast, residents and emergency management officials are bracing for the storm’s impact. With its projected strength, Milton poses a significant threat to life and property. Stay tuned for updates.

Take care of each other!
