After scoring a vital goal to propel Athletic Club in their important Europa League victory on Thursday night, Inaki Williams expressed his elation stating the excitement of playing in the European competition.

The Black Stars forward played a key role in the Spanish side’s triumph on Thursday night at the San Mames Barria, propelling his team to a crucial win.

Williams, who played the entire match, broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute with a well-placed finish after being set up by his younger brother, Nico Williams.

Athletic Bilbao sealed the victory in the 86th minute when Oihan Sancet scored, again assisted by Nico, solidifying the team’s performance.

After the match, Inaki Williams took to social media to celebrate, expressing his delight: “How beautiful it is to play Europa League in San Mames. What a win, we deserved it. Thank you all for the support,” he wrote on Instagram.

The 30-year-old has been in fine form this season, contributing six goals in 10 matches across all competitions. He has tallied one goal and four assists in La Liga, with another goal in his two Europa League appearances.

Williams is expected to be named in Ghana’s squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan next week.
