We go into this weekend’s home clash with Brighton looking to win our third straight game at the start of the season.

It would be just the fourth time we have started a Premier League campaign with nine points out of nine – after 2003/04, 2004/05 and 2022/23 – but our visitors have also had a perfect start, and Mikel Arteta is expecting a big test again at Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

“We’ll try to prepare like every team does,” he said in his pre-match press conference, “giving us the exact information and the relevant information that can really help us and give us what we need to win the game. We will try to do the same tomorrow for a team that is doing really well and have won all of their games with their new coach and it’s going to be a tough match.”

As well as starting with back-to-back wins, we have also recorded consecutive clean sheets to start the season, we are one of only two teams in the division not to concede in our opening two matches.

“It’s been a big strength of ours,” the boss said. “The commitment of every player and every ball and every single action. In those [first] two games it’s true that we haven’t given much away, but the ones that we have given, they were pretty clear and our goalkeeper has made two big saves to give us clean sheets.

“So there are certainly things to improve, but I think overall the commitment of the team on that front is superb.”

Taking into account the team’s form from the end of last season, we are also looking to make it nine consecutive wins in the Premier League, for the first time since the Invincible title-winning season of 2003/04.

“That would show unbelievable consistency,” the boss added. “It’s already difficult to do what we’ve done, but we want to be better and tomorrow we are going to have to really earn it because we are going to face a really good Brighton side.”
