While Cameroon is due to face Namibia at home on Saturday, September 7, 2024, as part of the CAN 2025 qualifiers, Samuel Eto’o decides to replace the senior national team.

Indeed, nothing is going well between the Cameroon Football Federation led by former Barça star Samuel Eto’o and the Cameroonian Ministry of Sports.

The crisis between the governing body of Cameroonian football and its supervisory ministry is taking a new turn.

Fecafoot, chaired by former Cameroonian international Samuel Eto’o, is determined to see its fight with its hierarchy through to the end.

Thus, Cameroon is heading straight for two national selections.

Indeed, the players summoned by the coach of the Indomitable Lions, Marc Brys, landed in Yaoundé, alongside the technical staff appointed by the Cameroonian Ministry of Sports upon validation by the Presidency of the Republic.

Fecafoot had planned for the players to land in Douala. The players therefore find themselves at the centre of the standoff between the two institutions.

After giving the players an ultimatum, the Eto’o-led body decided to take action by moving on to another alternative aimed at replacing the senior team against Namibia.

Thus, the president of Fecafoot decided to call on the Indomitable Lions U20 to play the match of September 7 against Namibia.

For the local media, Camerfoot, “The message from Fecafoot is clear. No one is indispensable for the Indomitable Lions.”

This is the very first time that such a situation has occurred in Cameroon.

Following this decision by the current president of the federation, all eyes are now on Marc Brys and his staff appointed by the Cameroonian Ministry of Sports.
