Are there earthquakes on other planets?

There are millions and millions of kilometers that separate each planet from our blue planet. Despite this distance, Man has managed to visit some planets of the solar system to better understand how they work and the universe that surrounds us. While the Earth is subject to natural disasters such as tsunamis, hurricanes and earthquakes, one may wonder if the other planets of the solar system also experience these phenomena.

The origin of earthquakes has been the subject of much scientific research. It comes mainly from what is called plate tectonics, a phenomenon characteristic of our blue planet. Indeed, the tectonic plates, located under the earth’s surface or under the oceans, are in constant motion. When two plates meet or move away from each other, they create a seismic fault and therefore energy. This energy is then released in the form of seismic waves which cause the vibrations known as earthquakes or earthquakes. Plate tectonics is therefore the origin of earthquakes and, when it occurs under an ocean, it can also trigger tsunamis.

Now that we have a better understanding of the origin of earthquakes, the question is whether earthquakes can occur on the other planets in the solar system. There are now eight of them, including our blue planet. According to all the research (…)
