The conflict in Gaza and the specter of external threats at the heart of the campaign

In Algeria, the presidential campaign ended on Tuesday evening, September 3, 20 days after its launch. The three candidates running for these elections will now observe a three-day electoral silence period before Saturday, September 7, election day. An opportunity for the opposition to go on the attack. After three weeks of campaigning focused on the economic and social concerns of Algerians, the candidates once again strongly encouraged voters to go out and vote. A significant part of their campaign was also focused on the theme of foreign policy and external threats to the country.

Abdelmajid Tebboune is seeking a new term. During his campaign, the president has constantly praised his economic and social record, saying that he still needs time to make theAlgeria economically stronger. The other two candidates, Youcef Aouchiche, candidate of the Socialist Forces Front (FFS) and Abdelaali Hassani Chérif, candidate of the Movement of Society for Peace (MSP), do not have a record to defend.
