Skeleton of 3-year-old boy missing since February found in Wisconsin

The remains of a 3-year-old boy were found in the state of Wisconsin, United States, on September 7, seven months after his disappearance, the Associated Press reported on Saturday, September 14.

According to the media, the announcement was made Tuesday by local police. The latter indicates that the skeleton of the child was discovered by a hunter in northeastern Wisconsin, nearly 5 kilometers from where he disappeared. Medical tests have formally identified that it is the missing boy.

The missing child was named Elijah Rue. He was last seen at his mother’s partner’s house in a Wisconsin town of about 11,000 people. “The family is devastated,” local police said.

The mother said she entrusted the child to her partner.

As early as February, investigators’ suspicions turned to the 31-year-old mother and her 39-year-old partner, who are both being prosecuted for negligence and complicity in negligence, respectively. They have pleaded not guilty in court.

According to the initial findings of the investigation, the mother had decided to entrust her 3-year-old son to her boyfriend on February 12 so that he could teach him how to “be a man.”

A little over a week later, on February 20, the companion in question reported to the police that the child had disappeared. He claimed to have taken a nap, with Elijah in the room with him. When he woke up, it was impossible, according to him, to find the little boy.

The circumstances and causes of the child’s death are still unknown. The police have announced that they are continuing the investigations already underway targeting the thirty-year-old.
