The Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) opened on Wednesday, September 4, but it was on Thursday, September 5, that the official speeches were held. Various African presidents spoke, all welcoming the 10-action plan of Chinese President Xi Jinping, the first to speak.

From our correspondent in Beijing, Clea Broadhurst

Xi Jinping was the first to speak at the Focac, which is being held until Friday, September 6 in Beijing. The Chinese president spoke in particular about the economic measures, directed towards Africa, that China intends to implement in the next three years. The most anticipated news: Beijing will unilaterally expand the opening of its market. The Chinese government will grant Africa 360 billion yuan in financial support (around 45 billion euros) in the next three years.

Trade, industries, interconnectivity, development, health and agriculture are among the major themes. In the words of Xi Jinping, ” Modernization is an inalienable right of all countries in the world. The Western path has inflicted deep suffering on developing countries ».

Senegal, South Africa and Congo-Brazzaville present

The discussions continued into the afternoon, and now all that remains is to seal the continuation of Sino-African friendship during the signing of the Focac 2024 declaration.
