As King Charles III continues his treatment for cancer, his wife Queen Camilla has given reassuring news during an official visit to a cancer center.

On Tuesday 3 September 2024, Queen Camilla visited Bath to open the new Dyson Cancer Centre at the Royal United Hospital. This medical facility provides cancer care to more than 500,000 people in the southwest of England. During her visit, the Queen Consort met with patients and medical staff.

In a conversation with a patient, Camilla displayed empathy and a very British sense of humour. When the patient confided that he felt “very tired”the queen replied: “Men never admit it”. A little dig that could well be aimed at her husband, known for being a workaholic.

Charles III: A King Who Doesn’t Want to Slow Down

Despite his cancer diagnosis announced in February 2024, King Charles III seems determined to maintain a sustained pace, much to the dismay of Camilla and her entourage. The Queen had also underlined this at a literary festival a few weeks earlier: “He’s doing well. Except he won’t slow down and do what he’s told.”
