Pro D2 – Brive redeems itself, Béziers keeps pace… The predictions for the 18th day

During this 18th day of Pro D2, several very interesting matches will be played. From this Thursday evening, the duel between and Brive will be worth watching. Here are our predictions.

Oyonnax – Brive

A few months ago, Oyonnax and Brive were the two big favorites for a climb to the Top 14 at the end of the season. The vagaries of the season have moved the lines and while the Oyomen are trying to make up for a significant delay in the ranking, the Coujoux are currently in a bad situation. Defeated at home by last week, Pierre-Henry Broncan’s men must redeem themselves on the lawn of Charles-Mathon. “Oyo” remains on four successes in a row but the Brivists have a pack which should allow them to take the physical advantage. This will be essential this Thursday evening.

Our prediction: victory for Brive, defensive bonus for Oyonnax.

– Provence

Aurillac may shake this weekend. With a game in hand – given that the match against Mont-de-Marsan was postponed last week – the Cantalusians are feeling the pressure from Romans, only four points behind them in the standings. And given that VRDR hosts on Friday, Romeo Gontineac's men are obliged to win against Provence Rugby. But the Provençals have just brought down the leader and remain with three successes in a row. With the famous titular George Norththe third in the ranking could play a bad trick on Jean-Alric.

Our prediction: victory for Provence Rugby.

Béziers –

Hey, here’s Béziers again! Thanks to its improved victory on the lawn of Soyaux-Angoulême, ASBH is second in the Pro D2 ranking and follows the pace imposed by Grenoble. This should still be the case this Friday. Facing Colomiers, the Biterrois are our favorites, in a clash between two of the best teams of the moment. At the gates of the top 6, the Columérins will have nothing to lose but Béziers seems untouchable at the moment.

Our prediction: victory for Béziers.

Soyaux-Angoulême –

The SA XV suffered a huge setback last week, losing largely against Béziers. Now under threat from Colomiers, the Angoumoisins must raise their heads against Dax. Not always sovereign at Chanzy, Alexandre Ruiz's men will have to draw on their mental reserves to overcome USD, a team that resembles them. The meeting is likely to be tense…

Our prediction: victory for Soyaux-Angoulême, defensive bonus for Dax.

Mont-de-Marsan –

At home, Stade Monois is far from being a sure bet this season. Beaten three times in its own stadium, Mont-de-Marsan hosts Montauban, one of the best away teams. Certainly, the Montalbanais are very far from being in good shape but the Montois will have to be careful. With a game in hand, they will absolutely have to win to avoid a scare.

Our prediction: victory for Mont-de-Marsan.

Nevers –

The victory on the Brive pitch last week did Nevers a world of good. Four successes in the last five matches and now USON can even think higher than a simple maintenance. With fresh players, the Neversois welcome Agen, a team which is struggling to find consistency in its results. The Lot-et-Garonnais have only gleaned one away success this season. It might be hard for them at Pré-Fleuri.

Our prediction: victory for Nevers.

Valence Romans – Nice

Shock from the bottom of the ranking or duel of fear: this Valence Romans – Nice is worth gold for both teams. Penultimate and bottom of the standings, the two teams challenge each other this Friday. In the event of victory, the VRDR can return to Aurillac and give itself hope of leaving the red zone. The Drômois would also push Nice. Stade Nice is nine points behind its opponent of the day and could be definitively detached in the event of a setback.

Our prediction: victory for Valence Romans.

Grenoble –

FCG is one of two teams still undefeated at home this season. This classifies you as a team and partly explains the very good season of the Isérois, first in the ranking with five points ahead of Béziers. And to avoid seeing the ASBH return, the Grenoblois must win against Biarritz. The Biarrots are on three defeats in a row and could fear a fourth at the Stade des Alpes.

Our prediction: victory for Grenoble with the offensive bonus.
