“The affair is far from over”: Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jégou, an unexpected turn of events envisaged in Argentina!

It’s a decision that caused a lot of talk in the small world of French rugby. In his latest list to participate in the first match of the Six Nations Tournament against Wales, Fabien Galthié has chosen to select Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jégou among the 42 players selected for this meeting. “We trust the Argentine justice, there was a dismissal, they are selectable”explained the coach on the set of Super Moscato Showon RMC, last Monday.

A decision far from being unanimous among rugby lovers and the return of Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jégou with the XV of has embarrassed former coaches, like Philippe Saint-André. “What will happen if the appeal is upheld on February 10, in the middle of the Tournament? Are we going to send them back on the 11th? Can we imagine what this would cause, what this would reflect as an image of rugby when we now advocate exemplarity?”asked the latter in The Parisian. A hypothesis which seemed to rule out since the two 21-year-old men benefited from a dismissal of the case of Argentine justice after their indictment for aggravated rape following the complaint of a 39-year-old woman in the city of Mendoza.

The plaintiff's lawyer will go all the way in this case

Obviously, the announcement of the return of Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jégou to the French team was very badly received by the complainant. “She is at her worst morally and completely exhausted. His condition is getting worse”declares Me Natacha Romano, the plaintiff's lawyer, to the Parisianthis Thursday, January 16. If the dismissal of the case has been pronounced and many see this as the epilogue of a long affair for French rugby players, it may well be that this is not the case since the lawyer recalls that her client is appealing the verdict in first instance before the Collegiate Court of Mendoza. “They can still end up in prison since the case is far from over”insists the lawyer in this case, a hearing scheduled for February 10 next.

Far from giving up, the lawyer of the alleged victim, who came out of silence to respond to those who accused her of lying a few months ago, assured that she “would exhaust all instances” of appeal to the highest courts to prove the good faith of his client.

A totally different story from Me Rafael Cuneo Libarona, the Argentinian lawyer of Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jégou, who welcomed the return to the Blues of the two men. “They have experienced very difficult days due to a false accusation and therefore deserve the greatest respect and all the support of French rugby. I am proud of the way they faced this unfair ordeal”he declared in comments reported by our colleagues.
