Castets is expanding. What are the next steps in its evolution?
The first houses in the Mouncaout 2 subdivision will soon be built for primary residence or rental investment. With the help of Côte Landes nature, we will renovate the roads and sidewalks of the Semelioun housing estate. Private projects are also progressing with the renovation of old hangars in the town center to transform them into housing.
What actions are planned to meet growing needs?
We plan to purchase buildings in 2025 to complete the equipment of the existing health center, while continuing the harmonious development of the town center. We will also welcome a health laboratory from June. In addition, an intercommunal micro-crèhe with 12 places will soon be built. Businesses are also developing: the baker Le Pain d'ici will build a new premises in our area of activity, allowing it to extend its range of products and a Lidl will open in the town. The infrastructure will be the subject of work with the expansion of a field for football or Rugby, the renovation of the school playground, the installation of a new heating network for several municipal buildings, painting of the church, the renovation of an old kayak shed for associations.
Castets wants to play a retro coastal tourist card: what are its plans?
The Barrat project will be finalized for the summer of 2025: a fun and educational route based on the heritage of the village will be offered to visitors, who will be welcomed in a scenographic reception building built for the occasion. Accommodation intended for tourist rental will be offered thanks to the renovation of the old forge workers' house, but also to the later construction of unusual cabins.
