Wassime Mouelhi, third row of SO Avignon XIII, takes stock at mid-season and looks back on his individual performances.
The first part of the season was frustrating, with only three wins and eight losses. The squad suffered from a lack of recruits and the departure of the coach at the start of the season, a situation which was not completely digested by the group. Despite everyone’s involvement in training and the rivalry we have with our opponents, our lack of consistency did not allow us to find the path to victory.
Individually, the matches with the France team, particularly against England and Australia, allowed me to take an important physical step forward. For the second part of the season, I am returning to the Carpentras club, where I was French U17 champion and where I grew up, up to the French team.
This is a new start for me, and I am determined to contribute to the success of the team. The second part of the season will be an opportunity to bounce back. I can’t wait to return to the Roseraie pitch, a stadium where the large crowd has always been behind us, and where the emotion is always present. I wish SOA a good second half of the season, hoping that it quickly finds the path to success.
