Crystal Palace, Ipswich, Newcastle et Southampton assurent
The four Premier League clubs playing this Sunday afternoon against lower level clubs were not surprised. Crystal Palace (ranked fifteenth) was satisfied with an early goal from Ezé (4th) to dispose (1-0) of Stockport (D3). Ipswich (18th), Newcastle (5th) and Southampton (last) were more prolific. And this, by winning respectively (3-0) in front of Bristol Rovers (D3) thanks to Phillips (18th), Clarke (24th) and Taylor (37th), (3-1) in front of Bromley (D4, who had however opened the scoring by Congreve, 8th), thanks to Miley (16th), Gordon (49th) and Ozuls (61st) and (3-0) against Swansea (D2), thanks to Sulemana (20th) and Dibling (35th, 65th). Finally, a little earlier, Doncaster (D4) had achieved a small feat by qualifying on the pitch of Hull City (D2), after the penalty shootout (1-1, 5-4 on the tabs)
