At the end of a match played in Dantean conditions, Albi dominated the Baroudeurs de Pia (26-10) and confirmed its current good form.
Despite the difficult weather conditions, Albi was keen to put on some play in the first 20 minutes. Dynamic and determined, the Tigers took the game into their own hands and scored two quick tries by Clément Tailhades (2′) and Brad Wall (23′). Once the gap was made (10-0), the match fell into a false rhythm. Undisciplined, the Albigensians ended the first period on the back foot. But despite several Pianenc strikes, the Tarn defense held firm and preserved the advantage acquired at the break.
Albi ensures
The second period started at a slower pace than the first. And even if Albi took fewer initiatives, they were able to capitalize on the mistakes they made to score as many points as possible. Left alone in the world like Tom Hanks on his wing, Théo Guinguet recovers a pass at the foot of Tony Gigot to score (16-0, 50′). The same Gigot then intercepts a hazardous pass from Lenny Chachoua and goes for the try (22-0, 59′). Three minutes after opening a significant gap, Albi killed the suspense. Served on a plate by Jason Goffin, Clément Tailhades scored a double, and made the courageous people who braved the rain burst into joy to fill the stands of Mazicou (26-0).
Pia then had a proud reaction to two tries from François Thérésin (63′) and Ilias Bergal (76′). But this came too late. Uninspired in attack and too undisciplined in defense, the Baroudeurs logically left Mazicou empty-handed (26-10), and confirmed their shortcomings away from home. For its part, Albi reaffirms its ambitions in 2025. This performance allows the Tarnais to temporarily take the lead in the ranking tied with Carcassonne.
