2 A last heroic defense, but insufficient
While the Scots were very close to a fourth try after the 40th minute, the Vannes fought body and soul to avoid conceding again. After more than ten sequences and a player returned to the line, the score was 17-19 at the break. A turning point in the match since the Vannes took the advantage for the first time a few minutes after returning from the locker room thanks to a penalty from Jules Le Bail (20-19, 47′). But they were unable to hold on until the end and ended up losing.
3 The Vannes scrum dominated
The Vannetais dominated in the scrum. They notably won nine (for four lost). Not enough. Vannes is third in Pool 3 of the Challenge Cup before the match between Bayonne and Black Lion.
4 Day of premieres
Having just entered the game in place of Saili (59′), center Tani Vili scored his first try in the colors of RCV (9 matches, 3 starts). He held off three defenders before breaking Graham and going for a solo try after a 30-yard effort.
Arriving at the end of December, New Zealand second row Jesse Parete (31) played his first minutes (entry in the 52nd).
