Recruit from USON Nevers, Charlie Francoz had been without a contract for six months: “I even worked in the kitchen of a restaurant”

He is a big guy who shows up at the USON training center, where he “has not yet [ses] landmarks”. Charlie Francoz (26 years old), at the height of almost two meters (1.95 m), is one of the two recruits who arrived during the break in Nevers (with hooker Stefan Buruiana, on loan from Castres). The one who is used to playing on the third line, but who arrives as a medical joker to compensate for the serious injury of Maxence Barjaud, will be required to play on the second line.

After six months without a club, the former player from Biarritz (his last club) especially wants to play again, regardless of the position in which he will be installed. This will not be possible this Friday, January 10, during the Mont-de-Marsan reception (7:30 p.m.), because Charlie Francoz still has a medical exam to pass, before he can be recorded on a match sheet.

Nevers, a healthy environment

What convinced you to join Nevers?

I also had an offer from Nice. But I know people who have passed through Nevers, who told me that it was a healthy environment. I think that in my situation, it was the best project to get back into rugby and get my head around it.

You haven’t played since May. Have you maintained good physical condition?

I maintained myself by doing weight training, cardio and physical work on the field. For the rugby aspect, me, all alone, especially at my position, it’s a bit complicated to work. So, apart from that, I tried to do what was necessary to not lose my form too much and to be ready when I got a contract.

How did you experience these months without a club?
