Championship – Louis Jouffret remains in Halifax – League

French halfback, fullback, or even hooker, Louis Jouffret, has extended his contract for one season with Halifax, which binds him until the end of 2025.

Arriving from Whitehaven four seasons ago, Louis Jouffret played for Halifax 88 times, scoring 34 tries. An extremely reliable scorer, with almost 200 points, he has been voted the fans' best player for two years. He therefore proves his involvement and his consistency on the Halifax side.

Lately, on the Shay side, a lot of things are changing. First of all, a new coach, with Kyle Eastmond, former union star, who also played rugby union. He takes charge of a team for the first time, replacing Liam Finn, who left to take up the role of assistant in Super League side Huddersfield Giants. And so that the new coach has plenty of room to really build his team, heads have fallen, with no less than eight players leaving, such as Gareth Widdop and Kevin Larroyer.

But the 29-year-old French player never thought about leaving, and spoke about the club's ambitions for the 2025 season:

I didn't really think about leaving. I love my life here, and if I had the opportunity to stay here, I really wanted to. I'm just happy to continue for a few more matches here.
Obviously the plan for 2025 is to do better than what we did this year. We missed the playoffs and we didn't perform very well in the Challenge Cup after winning the 1895 Cup, so I think we just want to fight for the top spots again.

Louis Jouffret is therefore the second extension for Halifax, after formalizing that of Charlie Graham. The club announced the extension of the French player with a rather nice video.
